Orphanage Director
Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for all of your comments and e-mails. However, we are unable to access the blog's comments so PLEASE e-mail us, brininganniehome@yahoo.com. Erich hasn't been very happy with me blogging late at night BUT he just read all of our e-mails and we were both so touched. He is actually helping me blog right now, as he holds sleeping Annie in his arms. He is able to hold Annie sleeping because Jack is asleep, too! He just put her down, IN OUR BED! We are in trouble aren't we??? But they are both taking a nap so peacefully.
Jack has become a daddy's boy and only wants daddy. Annie has warmed up to Erich. Last night Erich was very hurt but he melted today as she let him feed her the bottle. She is very little. I have her in 6-12 month clothes now. The doctor is coming tomorrow to check all of the babies and weigh and measure them. So far, Annie is very timid and shy around strangers. She is really checking out our faces, to make sure we are still the same people. Her face is very tan, the rest of her body has never seen the sun. They always dress them in so many layers. This is the Chinese custom. She is constantly sweating. We are just trying to cool her down. She coos a lot as a way to soothe herself? She enjoys Cheerios like they are going out of style however she is not overly hungry. She was fed and cleaned in the orphanage, just not stimulated. We were able to meet with the orphanage directors today. They came to the adoption process then back to the hotel to answer questions. They were so nice the director even cried as she was speaking. The Jiangxi Province has a law that you can not visit the orphanage during your adoption but you can come back at a later time with no problems. We did get our disposable camera back-can't wait to see those pictures!!!! We found out that there were 6 infants in a room at the orphanage with 2 caregivers. Bob and Lisa's little girl, Alexa, was in the same room with Annie, along with 2 other girls in our group. All of the girls are so beautiful, each with their own personality.
It has been a full day of the actual adoption paperwork and notarized paperwork. My mom has been a trooper. She is taking pictures, gathering backpacks and was even the official footstamper. Each girl had to have her foot red inked on the paperwork. My mom had red ink all over her Banana Republic white t-shirt. We are going to WalMart (of all places) in a couple minutes for supplies, I told her we would buy her a new white shirt. Fair trade, right?
By the way, our first night together and Jack AND Annie slept all night. Jack was up at 5:00 but we will take it. The nights of the midnight buffett (he has been starving every night at about midnight) are done! When he woke up he climbed over me to get a better look at Annie in her crib. He then stood at the side of her crib, touched her hand and offered his bink. It was so sweet. Off to WalMart. We might even have another post today, since it is only 3:45.
