IT'S ALL ABOUT JACK!

Hi everyone! We made it to Hong Kong. It's all about Jack for the next few days!:) Jack loves the airport. He just stood at the window watching the airplanes and babbling. He was so excited. He would wave to each airplane and say,"bye-bye." Erich, on the other hand, was Mr. Nervous (He did get better as the day went on!). Once we got on the plane, Jack was so content looking out of the window. When we flew through the clouds his eyes were as big as saucers. He wanted to stay awake but his eyes got the best of him. He slept from Cleveland to Chicago. We did laps on the moving walkway in Chicago dozens of times. We got salads for lunch since we won't be eating salads for a couple of weeks. Annika, the gold medalist from The Apprentice, was in line at lunch. It was kind of exciting especially since we are so addicted to reality TV! Then back on the airplane for 14 hours and 55 minutes to Hong Kong. We were pleasantly surprised because we thought it was 17 hours! I have to admit that purchasing an actual seat for Jack was an excellent idea, even though he slept on us almost the whole time. We were still able to stretch out. Thanks, Lisa, Nanc and Melissa for that advice!! After a nice 3 hour nap, we walked laps around the plane and Jack made LOTS of new friends. (Don't worry Lucy, Jack won't see those little girls ever again.) The Chinese on the plane all wanted to touch his hair and hands. He ate a ton of dinner and attracted a crowd. Erich and I actually watched a movie, Night in the Museum (very cute movie, by the way), while Jack read books, watched his DVD songs and dozed on and off. We had one meltdown of the day about midnight. It only lasted 2 minutes so I don't know if it actually counts as a meltdown. Then sound asleep in his own seat, on me then Erich and back and forth until we landed at 4:40 China time. Jack woke up happy as can be. He was such a good little boy!

Hong Kong is very Americanized. We watched a man making bamboo candy at the airport. It tasted like cotton candy and it was wrapped around nuts. We had no problems in the airport and to our hotel. The cab ride was an experience, though. Our luggage was strapped in the trunk with a bungy cord with Grandpa Bob, Grandma Jane, Erich, Jack and I all sitting piled in the back seat.

Erich didn't sleep on the plane and he wanted to take a nap. We wouldn't let him so we went out to dinner instead. Erich dined on pork butt, chicken feet and sushi. NICE!!! I couldn't find Erich after dinner, I found him walking with three Chinese girls. One was holding Jack's hand while the other 2 took pictures of the blond hair little boy and his "big" daddy. Jack ran to me and they started snapping pictures of Jack hugging his mommy. They couldn't get enough of touching Jack's hair and hands. It's 9:00 and Erich and Jack are tucked into bed.
